MEDIA RELEASE

MONBULK FOOTBALL SHINING BRIGHT UNDER NEW LIGHTS

Football in the Dandenong Ranges is set for a bright future with recent lighting upgrades to both pitches at the Monbulk Regional Soccer Centre now ready for action.

Member for Monbulk Daniela De Martino today joined Yarra Ranges Council and Monbulk Rangers Soccer Club representatives to switch on the new lights, made possible by a $200,000 investment from the Allan Labor Government.

Works installed 150 lux LED lighting across the centre’s 2 football pitches, giving local footballers extra time and space to perfect their game.

Brighter lights mean better use and increased number of hours on the ground. The new lights will also help expand local junior development programs and teams, giving more aspiring sport stars the opportunity to kit up and get in the game.

In addition, the new lights will last longer and reduce energy use and cost. The new lighting also opens the reserve to more community use including casual play and local events.

The Victorian Budget 2025/26 is providing $20 million to support the development of high-quality, accessible community sports infrastructure across the state, including through the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.

It’s part of the more than $2.4 billion invested by the Victorian Government into community sport and active recreation infrastructure since 2014.

From oval redevelopments to lighting upgrades, investments like these are all about creating jobs, stimulating local economies, and improving the health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for Victorian communities.

Daniela De Martino MP acknowledged Yarra Ranges Shire Council for its more than $48,000 financial contribution and commitment to delivering the project. For more information about infrastructure grant opportunities available, visit sport.vic.gov.au.
