BOOST FOR MONBULK’S MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES
The Allan Labor Government is ensuring Victorians can access mental health and alcohol and other drugs treatment and care in safe, modern spaces.
Minister for Mental Health Ingrid Stitt has announced the successful projects in the latest round of the Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Capital Renewal Fund.
Under the latest round, 32 mental health and AOD services will share in $20 million for critical upgrades and refurbishments.
In the Monbulk District, Eastern Health will receive funding to improve and enhance the infrastructure of Chandler Adult Community Mental Health Clinic at the Angliss Hospital. The scope of work includes:
• installation of a duress alarm system
• upgrade of (HVAC) Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning system
• interior painting and repairs to all walls, ceilings, floors, skirting and architraves
• carpet replacement to all staff areas and main corridor
The upgrades will support Eastern Health to provide more high-quality care, close to home for Monbulk locals.
It’s all about ensuring Victorians can access the specialist care they need, when they need it and close to home.
Other projects supported in this round include:
• $1 million to the Aboriginal Community Elders Services for the refurbishment of a social and emotional wellbeing centre for Elders
• $1 million to Bendigo Community Health Services for a range of safety and accessibility upgrades
• $790,000 to Better Health Network for the refurbishment of the Fitzroy Street site
• $1 million to Grampians Health for safety upgrades and planning and design work of a new Intensive Care Area in the Steele Houghton Unit
• $131,000 to Wellways to upgrade the Kuna Bim Youth Residential Rehabilitation Service in Warrnambool.
The Mental Health and AOD Capital Renewal Fund responds directly to recommendations from the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System.
It aims to improve mental health and AOD services by creating safer, more accessible and more supportive environments for staff, consumers and their families, carers and supporters.
