About Daniela
I am honoured to serve as the State Member for Monbulk , a diverse electorate that encompasses almost all of the Dandenong Ranges and spans over 35 towns, each with their own unique history. From Ferntree Gully all the way east to Gembrook, I am dedicated to representing the interests of my community. As a life-long resident of the outer east, I’ve always felt at home amongst the beauty and heritage of our region.
Before entering Parliament, I worked in various roles, including as a businesswoman, teacher and union official.
As a former secondary teacher, I strongly believe that education is key to building a healthy and prosperous society. I am committed to ensuring that our local schools receive the resources and support they need to help every child reach their full potential.
After my time in teaching, I became a union official at the Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees Association (SDA), where I worked to protect the rights of retail and fast food workers.
My next challenge was owning my own business. I have always been passionate about promoting sustainable practices to mitigate climate change, including supporting organic food production. I decided to put my beliefs into action and my husband Mike and I bought the local organic grocery. It gave me the opportunity to live my values and employ local residents. Small business is the largest employer in our state and I use my experiences as a small business owner every day as I work to represent the interests of our region.
In my role as the local Member, I am dedicated to ensuring that no one is left behind. I am committed to working tirelessly to ensure that everyone in our community has access to opportunities and support.
I am always out and about across the hills, listening to the voices of locals and working to protect and enhance this vibrant community of Monbulk.
